Rafa Aslan is a Montréal-based composer, sound designer, and drummer. He scores and programs an extensive range of music from his studio, most notably scoring the music for several national (U.S.) Mercedes Benz commercials and composing, recording, producing, arranging, mixing, and mastering two independent albums.
Rafa graduated from McGill’s Schulich School of Music where he studied jazz performance and composition under John Hollenbeck and Christine Jensen, as well as electroacoustic composition under Philippe Leroux .
A Laguardia High School alumni, Rafa has prolific performance experience, playing in Classical orchestras, Jazz big bands, and other small band settings. He was also a member of Arturo O’Farrill’s Fat Afro Latin Jazz Cats, where he performed at Birdland and the Brooklyn Public library.
He sees his love of music as a vehicle to grow and connect with others.
